The Home Entertainment of America division of Sony Electronics, located in San Diego, CA, currently has an opening for a Senior Server/Applications Engineer. We are looking for experienced web and server applications developer's, who will be responsible for analyzing, designing, programming, integrating, debugging and modifying server applications and systems software. In this role, you will work in collaboration with other engineering members to develop complete end-to-end software solutions. You will typically develop Java, PHP and MySQL applications in the Linux environment. The position requires knowledge of server side API development as well as developing front end portals. You will exercise good judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. You will build productive internal/external working relationships.

• BA/BS degree in Engineering is required
• Must have 4 to 6 years of related engineering experience
• Proficiency in PHP, Java and MySQL is essential
• Understanding of IM systems is a strong plus
• Working knowledge of REST based Web Services, SOAP, or JSON-RPC a plus
• Experience with database design and architecture
• Advanced computing and programming skills in C/C++, Objective-C desirable
• Knowledge of the Linux operating system and networks a plus
• Theoretical and practical experience with Object Oriented design
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel internationally and domestically as needed
• Willingness to work in a very "hands on" environment
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Ability to recognize and analyze problems and then develop and implement solutions
• Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Must be able to travel domestically and internationally if required
