Sony Electronics (SEL) located in San Diego, CA, currently has an opening for a Manager Strategic Business Development in their Consumer of America Strategy Office. The role of this position is evaluate and manage new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures, along with multiple organizations within SEL or our sister companies. This position will oversee market analysis, monitor competitive activity, and identify customer needs. One key role is to provide leadership and coordination in the development of planning, designing, due diligence, and implementing of strategic business objectives along with multiple groups within the organization.

Along with the coordination role, another key mission is to outline the overall blueprint of the project which will define vision, strategies, and tactics. You will select, develop, and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

The third key role will be the coordination with Sony Tokyo, as many initiatives should also be aligned with Corporate. This position will receive assignments in the form of objectives and you will determine how to use resources to meet schedules and goals. You will provide guidance to subordinates within the latitude of established company policies, and recommend changes to policies, establishing procedures that affect immediate organization(s).
Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration is required or equivalent
• Must have 5 to 7 years of related experience, including supervisory experience
• Experience in consumer electronics is preferred
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities is required
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all levels within the organization including: verbally, in writing and in a more formal meeting / presentation setting
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate emerging business opportunities with an integrated view of business, market, and technical factors
• Must have excellent persuasive and presentation skills
• Must possess excellent organizational skills
• Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Ability to recognize and analyze problems and then develop and implement solutions as required
• Japanese language skills are desirable
• Ability to travel domestically or internationally if required
