JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have certification (or eligible) as a Veterinary Technician, Medical Laboratory Technician or Medical Technologist. Will perform various analytical procedures on samples (blood, fluid, feces, etc) from birds, mammals and reptiles. Experience in hematology, clinical chemistry, parasitology, urinalysis and basic knowledge of species differences in blood cells and morphology preferred. Basic word processing, computer database skills, precise record keeping, good interpersonal communication skills needed. Knowledge of QA/QC required. Experience with testing samples from exotic animals is desirable. Interested applicants must be available any of the seven days of the week. Scheduled work hours will be approximately 40 hours per week. Primary work location is at the San Diego Zoo. Some hours will be required at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in Escondido (approximately 1-8 days a month). Valid driver license required. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
